Home Sweet Home-school

I have recently read Home Sweet Home-school: A Survivor's Guide to Giving Your Kids a Quality Education by Sue Maakestad. I checked it out at the library.

Here's a quote: "After all, Christians are just sinners saved by grace. And homeschoolers are just moms who pray for grace and let God do the rest."

I challenge you to read this book!

Yes, I am adding my own comments, but you have to hear more from this book!

"Never start a day of schoolwork without praying alone and with your kids. Encourage them to read their own Bibles and pray every morning, seeking their own power from God. If they're still too young to read the Bible, set aside time to read to them and lead them in prayer. Soon they'll be able to fly solo, and by then they'll know where to turn when they need help and power for living."
Quote from Home Sweet Home-school

Home Sweet Home-school p. 76

"You can think of yourself as just another stay-at-home mom or rise up and realize who you really are in Jesus."

More from Home Sweet Home-school:

"...remember to teach all the things that aren't in the curriculum. Teach them to learn how to learn from the Giver of all knowledge, and they'll become lifelong learners, seeking the wisdom that really matters. Teach them that the world doesn't owe them a thing; that whiners and winners don't mix; that they are called to excellence and to surpass the status quo and go far beyond average, because God will make them the head and not the tail (Deut. 28:13); that we must give the best we have because we give it all as unto the Lord."

Yes, even more from Home Sweet Home-school:

"Remember, the grass is really greener where there's the most fertilizer."

"It's okay to teach kids to challenge what they're taught, as long as you also teach them to be ready to back it up with the truth. Yes, teach them what the theory of evolution says, but also teach them how creationism disproves it. Require both. They'll need it later in life. They'll need it to be a witness for Jesus." - Sue Maakestad in Home Sweet Home-school

Last and final quote from Home Sweet Home-school:

"only Mom can give Mom her morning"

This comment is about another book that I am recommending. Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters is EXCELLENT! I recommend it first to fathers, but it is just as important for the mothers to read it as the fathers because you are a team and you can gently remind the father of the needs of your daughters when it is necessary and you will know how to pray for your husband to be that father to your daughters!
